The European Parliament has just passed a law with the aim of increasing carbon sinks by 15% by 2030 and making the European Union the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, thus ensuring the goal of reducing and offsetting the carbon footprint in Spain.

Is it mandatory to measure the carbon footprint?

One of the objectives set by the Government to achieve climate neutrality is to reduce greenhouse gases by at least 23% compared to 1990. Consequently, in 2023 the calculation and publication of the carbon footprint will be a mandatory measure for many companies. This initiative aims to ensure that organizations are informed about their performance with regard to climate change in order to achieve the objectives set by the European Commission.

Business Compensation Plan

In the fight against climate change, the first step is to adopt a commitment to ESG policies. Companies must calculate their carbon footprint and work on a Reduction Plan, in addition to increasing CO2 absorptions.

First of all, in order to calculate the carbon footprint that the company generates, it is necessary to know the data of the company’s activity and the emission factors. At CO2Revolution we provide you with a report that will help you make better decisions in your sustainability strategy. You will be able to register the report in MITERD to obtain the “Calculo” seal.

To reduce the climate impact caused by the company’s activity, the main goal is to become carbon neutral. This means offsetting the carbon footprint through CO2 absorption projects. Some initiatives for this are the purchase of tons of carbon, investment in reforestation projects, use of renewable energies…

Actions to offset carbon footprint

From CO2Revolution we support you throughout the process and to facilitate this work and get your company to be carbon neutral we offer two actions:

  • Purchase of tons of CO2
  • Creation of corporate forests

Both projects are registered in the MITERD and you can obtain your own certification endorsed by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge that allow you to communicate and value your company’s eco-responsible commitment to policies to combat climate change, both internally and externally.
