How to organize sustainable events?

CO2 Revolution helps organize carbon neutral events

When a company committed to the environment sets out to host a sustainable event, it must consider various factors in organizing aspects such as transportation, facilities, and activities. Although there are different ways to reduce the environmental impact through modifications to the supply chain, achieving absolute carbon neutrality through these means is very challenging. Therefore, we recommend using the method of offsetting. However, it is crucial to first calculate the carbon footprint of the event.

The carbon footprint of an event is an indicator used to describe the total climate impact an organization has in relation to the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions released into the atmosphere; in other words, the amount of CO2 generated by the event. This calculation allows the company or institution to establish a baseline from which to structure improvements towards sustainability. At CO2 Revolution, we make it easy for you. To determine the carbon footprint of your event, simply fill out this form for a quote, providing some details about the event such as the number of attendees and its duration. In quantifying this figure, we rely on an expert in GHG emission estimation and accounting protocols such as ISO 14064 or the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol).

Once the footprint is calculated, it can be offset partially (if the goal is to start the event on a path to sustainability), completely (if the goal is to achieve carbon neutrality), or go even further by offsetting more CO2 than is emitted (carbon positive/climate positive). To do this, CO2 Revolution offers the opportunity to purchase carbon credits, equivalent to tons of CO2 removed or avoided from the atmosphere, through carbon absorption projects such as reforestation of degraded or burned lands.

We offer our own seal that certifies the acquisition of tons to achieve carbon neutrality. This distinctive element can be placed on signage, videos, and other event materials to communicate to attendees that they are participating in an event committed to sustainability, thus improving the organization’s reputation and reinforcing its brand image.
