PROJECT

Borela

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Creation of a forest ecosystem in an area deteriorated after a fire in order to reestablish the vegetation, recovering the functionality of both the soil and the flight and promoting the removal of CO, thus mitigating the effects of global warming.

Forest repopulation project of 78.34 hectares located in the Community of Neighboring Forests in Common Hand of Borela, Municipality of Cerdedo‐Cotobade located in the province of Pontevedra (Galicia).

With this reforestation project, the aim is to accelerate the recovery of the forest, favoring the proliferation of both animal and plant species, and promoting soil stabilization and improved water cycle.

The mix of species used in the repopulation, including conifers and deciduous trees, not only breaks the horizontal continuity typical of a plantation but also forms more resilient masses against potential environmental changes. This disruption in continuity, along with the presence of perimeter bands of deciduous trees, also helps prevent the spread of fire in case of wildfire.
