How to organize a sustainable festival

The summer sales are approaching and with it the compulsive shopping, so far! Learn how to take advantage of the sales without losing money and contributing to responsible consumption.

It’s a consumption habit focused on meeting basic and real needs while optimizing the use of natural resources. The impact of responsible consumption habits promotes social well-being and environmental conservation.

In 2023, Spaniards spent an average of approximately €275 on all purchases made during the winter sales, €10 less than the previous year, and €82 less compared to 2019. According to a report by the Spanish Consumers Association (ASESCON), consumers expect to spend an average of €89 during the summer sales.

Remember, it’s not just about buying less, but buying better. Pay attention to materials, craftsmanship, and distribution.

  • Make a list of what you need: Decide on the products you need before the sales start. This allows you to know the pre-sale prices and avoid impulse buying.
  • Opt for sustainable products: Choose wisely where you invest your economic resources. There are increasingly more brands that facilitate joining a responsible lifestyle. Leading brands offer quality products that are perfect wardrobe staples.
  • Look for long-lasting products: Sales are the best time to buy products that can stay in your wardrobe for many years, thereby supporting brands that do not promote fast fashion and planned obsolescence. Quality over quantity.
  • Give a second life to products you don’t use: The second-hand market is experiencing exponential growth in Spain. This more conscious and sustainable business model is key to the circular economy and allows you to find trends at a better price.
  • Reduce online orders: Transportation, storage, and packaging are three sources of pollution that skyrocket during these times. According to a report by EAE Business School, 25% of products or services purchased online are returned. With this in mind, we recommend opting for in-store pickup and returning items to avoid unnecessary trips.

In an environment where resources are limited, responsible consumption is the best alternative to generate a positive impact on the environment, our city, and our health. Buy consciously, your planet and your wallet will thank you.
