PROJECT

Albentosa

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Creation of a sustainable forest ecosystem to protect the soil against erosive phenomena, regulate the hydrological cycle, and restore the area's biodiversity.

Forest repopulation project of 5.83 hectares located in the town of Albentosa, province of Teruel (Aragón).

The goal of this forest repopulation project is to promote the establishment of a sustainable forest mass to effectively mitigate the effects of climate change in an area devoid of vegetation and degraded by intense erosive processes. This forest mass will play a crucial role in regulating water resources, minimizing erosion risk, and enriching the soil with nutrients. Additionally, it will provide the town with other ecosystem services such as rural development, local employment, and outdoor recreational activities.

The project involves a mixed, multi-species plantation, composed of native coniferous and deciduous species adapted to the local climate, forming a resilient mass against potential environmental disturbances. The main species selected is the Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis) due to its great ability to colonize degraded lands.
