PROJECT

Tenorio I

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Discover our reforestation project in Tenorio I to accelerate the recovery of the forest, promoting the proliferation of both animal and plant species.

The Tenorio I Reforestation Project covers 1.97 hectares located in the Community of Montes Vecinales en Mano Común de Tenorio, in the municipality of Cerdedo-Cotobade, within the municipality of Pontevedra, Galicia. The main objective of this project is to accelerate the recovery of the forest in this area, promoting the proliferation of various animal and plant species. It also seeks to stabilise the soil and improve the water cycle, contributing significantly to the environmental sustainability of the region.

The Tenorio I Project focuses on reforestation using mainly Pinus radiata, a fast-growing species that adapts well to local climatic conditions. This species is essential for establishing a robust and resilient forest stand. The choice of Pinus radiata not only ensures rapid ground cover, but also provides essential ecosystem benefits such as carbon sequestration and biodiversity enhancement.

In addition to Pinus radiata, the Tenorio I Reforestation Project includes the introduction of a perimeter band of native hardwoods. This hardwood strip plays a crucial role in protecting the forest by acting as a natural firebreak. By breaking the horizontal continuity of the forest, this strategy significantly reduces the risk of forest fires spreading, thus improving the safety and stability of the forest ecosystem.
