PROJECT

Albentosa II

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Creation of a sustainable forest ecosystem to protect the soil against erosive phenomena, regulate the hydrological cycle, and restore the area's biodiversity.

The reforestation project Albentosa II is carried out in collaboration with Deloitte, focuses on the creation of its sustainable forest ecosystem. It covers an area of 3.91 hectares in the municipality of Albentosa (Teruel).

According to the Verdantix Green Quadrant: ESG & Sustainability Consulting Services 2024 report, Deloitte has been recognised as a leader in environmental, social and governance (ESG) and sustainability services. Its efforts to incorporate a climate perspective into its business is reflected in this project.

The purpose of the Albentosa II project is to mitigate the effects of climate change by promoting a forest mass that protects the soil against erosion, regulates the hydrological cycle and recovers the biodiversity of the area. To this end, a mixed multi-species plantation is being implemented, made up of native coniferous and broadleaf species. A total of 4,301 trees have been planted, not only to improve the ecosystem’s resilience to environmental changes, but also to facilitate the recovery of nutrients and soil stabilisation. Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis) has been defined as the main species due to its great capacity to colonise degraded land, thus favouring the installation of other species.

This project reinforces Deloitte’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. It also makes a tangible contribution to the well-being and development of the region.
